Cape champions

Carmen Jagers

I am Carmen Jagers, co-director of the Elpida Foundation. It is not only my calling to serve my community; it is my passion. My faith is my anchor: It keeps me healthy and focused. And my husband is my heart, my pillar of strength.

I believe in planning and purposefulness. This is how I transform my dreams into reality and practically live out my love for caring. By Elpida, which means “hope” in Greek, I can live out my mission on a daily basis: bringing hope where it may be in shortage, and to encourage people to keep on believing, even if things are dark.

I am a people’s person in every way. I love chatting, laughing, learning and sharing my knowledge with others. It brings me joy to see how people grow, become stronger and take up their place in life. Together we are building a society of hope, faith and mutual empowerment.
